MOTION AS RANDOM LINE
This project is an interdsciplinary approach in visual communication between contemporary dance and illustration. It depicts the poem "de rerum natura" from the Roman philosopher Lucretius which explains the creation of nature and the universe as a result of randomly moving particles known as Clinamens.
The movement of contemporary dance is based on improvised, non-controlled actions and resembles the idea of a Clinamen.
The project explores how improvised motion can be translated into figurative illustrations, and at the same time illustrate the core idea of Lucretius: the process of creation through randomness.
The final illustrations were reproduced as etchings on 300 gsm sommerset paper.
This project was part of the LCC Postgraduate Show 2015.
